Figure Drawing Final

Here is my final drawing for my Fall '13 Figure Drawing class. I am really proud of this one and how far my drawing skills have come! Just for comparison, the bottom photo is a drawing I did almost exactly one year before the first image, and it's also coincidentally the same model! Sometimes all you need to do is to look at where you came from to see just how far you have come.

Thanks for stopping by!

3D Modeling Final

For my Fall 2013 semester I was challenged with the task of creating a character, a prop for that character and a place where that character would live. I posted sketches and ideas for the character before, but here are the (almost) final versions of it all!

For my character I really wanted to make a retro looking super heroine. My thinking is that once WWII broke out she took it upon herself to start fighting crime since all the men were gone overseas.

First up are two turn tables. The first is of the ray gun I modeled and textured. I had a lot of fun modeling this!

The second video is of my character. Unfortunately I had some trouble texturing the eyes within Mudbox, so in this turn table the eyes are closed.

Here are stills out of mudbox of my heroine:

For her pants I made the pattern in Photoshop and then used that to apply the pattern and bump to her in Mudbox. I wanted to use colors that were feminine but not the stereotypical pink.
Here are stills of the model just within Maya with no textures. I included them because you can see the eyes open in these.

Close up detail on her face! The hair took forever, and I am pretty pleased with how it all came out.

The last part of our project was to create an environment and I really wanted to create a secret lair for her. My idea is that the lair itself is actually hidden underground, but raises up for her to enter and leave it. This is my least finished of the three, sadly. I have yet to apply all my textures and there are still some minor tweaks to the modeling I need to do within Maya. Overall I am happy with the basic shape, from here on out it's just refining all those great details.

I wanted the exterior to be all glass, and then inside the main focal point is this cool retro looking fireplace. In the back of the photo below you can see a chair and shelving I modeling for it.

A retro book case.

I had a lot of fun with this character! I hope to continue working on the project and typing up all the odds and ends to make her truly complete.

Thanks for looking!

Photoshop Doodle

These past few days I've been playing around a lot more in Photoshop with my tablet. Here's a quick sketch I made tonight! It's been a total challenge learning how to draw digitally but I feel like I am slowly starting to grasp it.

Animating Red

Here is a very very very rough pencil test for my animated short I'm working on right now! There will eventually be a dog in this shot once I get around to animating him, dogs are seriously hard to animate!! So many legs, tail swishes and everything else in-between. Sheesh!

Here's What I'm Working On!

Here is a sneak peak of my new project for my 3D Design class! I am creating a 1950's Super Heroine, and have begun modeling her weapon! It is no where near finished, but I think I am starting to get the right shape and idea for it! Let me know what you think! :)

Here are also some concept sketches for my Super Heroine herself. I am still working out her design, and putting all the finishing details into her background story. My thinking is that her beehive hair holds special powers of it's own, which is also the reason her weapon above looks a little like a hair dryer! Any suggestions for what powers her hair holds are welcomed!

Young Goodman Brown

Here is my final painting for my digital illustration class. It was based off of the short story, Young Goodman Brown. I had hoped to capture the exact moment when Goodman Brown learns that his wife Faith is not as faithful as he thought.

My 1st Digital Painting

Our assignment was to color in a line drawing of the image below, and to try and convey some feeling or emotion with it. I chose to go for a dark, creepy, and fearful feeling.
